about

Maggie began playing the piano at the age of 7, learning by ear for a year before beginning lessons. At 17, she was admitted to the University of Maryland, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with Dr. Larissa Dedova and graduated summa cum laude.

At the Cleveland Institute of Music, Maggie was awarded her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy; she also received the Gilbert M. Brooks Dean’s Award as well as the William Kurzban Prize in Piano.

Next, Maggie is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the guidance of Kathryn Brown. Maggie’s ties to Cleveland go beyond her schooling, however; she is the artist-in-residence at Judson Park, delivering curated recitals to residents there. She is also a piano instructor at the Aurora School of Music and serves as Co-Chair of Student Activities for the Northeast Ohio Music Teachers Association.

new music

Maggie is an advocate for new music, as both a performer and a composer herself. She has performed new works by Reena Esmail, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, and others, and she has premiered works by Dr. William Kenlon, Inna Onofrei, Robert Gibson, and others.

Most recently, Maggie premiered her own work, Those Who Follow, in recital. You can find sheet music for Those Who Follow at Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus.

As part of the avant-garde ensemble re-sound, Maggie has toured in New York and the District of Columbia. Through this ensemble, Maggie brings dramatic concert productions to life, merging classical music with storyline and live theater alongside baritone Matthew Payne and soprano Margaret Polglaze.
